ADENA — The Adena Lions Club will present its annual Christmas cantata Dec. 3. There will be a 2 p.m. presentation at St. Casimir’s Catholic Church, located at 226 Hanna Ave. in Adena, and a 7 p.m. presentation at the Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, located at 123 Union St.
This year, the 32-person community choir will be presenting Tom Fettke’s, “A Christmas Masterpiece.” Admission to the cantata is free, and open seating will be available. A monetary donation will be collected, with all of the procedes going to the Adena and Dillonvale food pantries.
Refreshments will be served following the 7 p.m. presentation, officials stated. Once again, the cantata will be directed by Dustin Kinsey.
Kinsey stated, “The cantata really is a special event that presents the Christmas message in song and narration.
Last year, more than 200 people experienced our Christmas cantata and we hope to present it to even more people this year. Come and enjoy the blessings of the season.”
The cantata is a 60-minute musical presentation that aims to capture the beauty and wonder of the Christmas message and season. It has been performed at various locations since its inception in 1986, officials explained. This year, there are 32 participants representing eight different churches.
The Adena Lions Club is comprised of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs, officials said. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month and welcomes new members.
