Expect delays: This stretch of Pasadena’s California Blvd. is closing for hours this weekend.
OK, Pasadena commuters. It’s not exactly Carmageddon. But if you’re used to a stretch of California Boulevard to get east or west in town, forget it.
It’s not a long stretch of road in Pasadena, but it’s a significant one — and it will be closed most of the daytime on Saturday and Sunday.
California Boulevard will be completely closed off from Fair Oaks Avenue to Raymond Avenue from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday to Sunday (July 28 to July 30), and one lane will be open each way on that same stretch from 9 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
The stretch can be a busy east-west corridor.
Why, you ask, is the portion being closed off?
Well, if you’re familiar with this busy stretch of road in the city, you know that construction is ongoing at 590 S. Fair Oaks Ave. for a Keck Medicine of USC building. The closure is needed to set up a crane for the construction.
For city information, call (626) 744-7311.
